The Amazing Cynicalman #23

From the Random Stack of Unread Comics.

Title: The Amazing Cynicalman
Issue: #20
Date: April, 2009
Publisher: Not Available Comics
Writer: Matt Feazell
Artist: Matt Feazell

Quarter-sized b/w stickfigure minicomic.

Cynicalman applies for a job with the Justice League. Unfortunately, getting them to believe he has superpowers proves to be a bit challenging.

There's some more discussion of employment, lack of employment, and the economy, along with a two-page "snail goes into a bar joke".

Artist Matt Feazell does a nice job of making his stickfigures expressive, and the jokes are goofy fun.

The Amazing Cynicalman #20

From the random pile of unread comics. Probably acquired at the SPACE convention in Columbus OH.

Title: The Amazing Cynicalman
Issue: #20
Date: February, 2008
Publisher: Not Available Comics
Writer: Matt Feazell
Artist: Matt Feazell

I loved the inside cover artwork on this minicomic, depicting the World Headquarters of Not Available Comics in Hamtramck MI.

For those not familiar, Matt Feazell does stick-figure minicomics, usually quarter-sized (as this issue is) featuring a whole cast of characters including Cynicalman, Cute Girl, and in this issue, Robot Lincoln.

Robot Lincoln attempts to boost his reputation by taking up modern art. Cynicalman deals with a home warranty phone scammer. President Bush hand-delivers an economic stimulus package. And my favorite bit in this issue: a want-ad for a cartoon character.

Some of the jokes were a bit obvious, but this is part of the fun with Cynicalman. The artwork is entertaining, with a very wide range of actions and characters, despite the limitations of working with stick figures.

This was good for a few laughs.

The Amazing Cynicalman #33

Gynn picked this one up from Matt Feazell at SPACE 2013.

Title: The Amazing Cynicalman
Issue: #33
Date: 2013
Publisher: Not Available Comics
Writer: Matt Feazell, Jim Mackey
Artist: Matt Feazell

Stick-figure minicomic anthology featuring characters from the Cynicalman universe. First up, it's Cute Girl vs. pizza ordering, and what happens when she's the only vegetarian in the group and it's time to decide on pizza toppings. Then Cynicalman deals with an upside-down Christmas tree, and a "Days Without An Accident" sign. Finally, Cynicalman takes on snow in three different strips, one of which was written by Jim Mackey.

The Cute Girl bit was my favorite of these, but all of them were good for a chuckle.

The Amazing Cynicalman #27

Title: The Amazing Cynicalman
Issue: #27
Date: 2010
Publisher: Not Available Comics
Writer: Matt Feazell
Artist: Matt Feazell

Cynicalman encounters his evil twin, who proves to me more annoying than evil. Also in this quarter-sized mini, writer/artist Matt Feazell takes on the General Motors bailout and the IRS. Actually, it's Stupid Boy who takes on the IRS. As you might imagine, this does not end well.

Feazell's stick figure art continues to be a remarkably efficient storytelling medium, and his wit is as sharp as ever in this collection. Funny stuff.
